Wine enthusiasts across the country – and across the world – are anxious to get back to visiting their favorite wineries. Gervasi Vineyard in Canton – one of the top wineries in Ohio – is open and ready to serve.
In the midst of these warm, summer days, people want to be outside. Wineries are the perfect escape. Enjoy the sunshine. Listen to the birds. Gaze at the beautiful scenery.
When planning a trip to Gervasi Vineyard, the Tuscan-inspired winery resort does not disappoint. Gervasi offers luxurious overnight stays, multiple restaurants with both outdoor and indoor seating, a cafe and a beautifully landscaped Tuscan-style countryside, including two lush vineyards.
Below are 9 tips to get out and enjoy an afternoon at your favorite winery:
1. Keep Up to Date with All That’s Happening
In our ever-changing world, it is best to confirm hours, event updates, and guidelines before planning your visit. Most wineries have this information posted on their website and social media. Many wineries will list their safety information on their website, as well. Gervasi Vineyard outlines their GV Brand Promise for visitors. Of course you may call the winery if you’d like to speak to someone directly.
2. Be Open to Changes
Wineries are working hard to implement stringent cleaning and sanitizing protocols, as well as new methods for order taking, payment processing and delivering wine tastings to your table. This means your dining experience may be slightly different than what you’re used to. There may be times you will need to have a little extra patience (and perhaps another glass of wine). So sip away!
3. Bring Along Your Favorite Mask
In Ohio, employees will be wearing masks at every winery. Currently, it is optional for guests to wear masks at most wineries, though it is strongly recommended for the safety of both guests and staff. The goal for winery establishments is to provide a safe and comfortable environment for everyone.
4. Keep Your Circle of Wine Friends Small
Per current Ohio laws, it is required to limit your dining parties to 10 people or fewer. Ohio wineries must follow all safety guidelines and recommendations including party size. Gervasi Vineyard has multiple dining venues to accommodate groups of 10 or fewer.
5. Chill with a Glass of Your Favorite Wine
What would your trip be without exploring the wines? Buy a bottle of your favorite, or try something new. Maybe your pallet has changed? Does your favorite winery now offer a new wine or special cocktail? Now is the time to relax and have a glass of bold red cabernet, a sweet white dessert wine, or a craft cocktail before or after dinner. Gervasi Vineyard offers over 30 varietals of wine and six Gervasi Spirits at all restaurants, including The Still House Cocktail Lounge.
6. Consider Dining Outside
For those guests who would feel more comfortable outside, many wineries offer picnic tables and chairs to take in the beauty of the great outdoors while sipping your wine. Of course, you could also bring a blanket for a nice little picnic in the grass. Gervasi offers outdoor dining at The Crush House Wine Bar & Eatery, The Piazza and The Stillhouse. Or, order a bottle of wine or carryout meal to enjoy by the lake.
7. Feel Comfortable Dining Inside
Wineries are working hard to comply with governmental guidelines for safety. With proper social distancing in place, dining inside the winery or restaurants is considered safe. At Gervasi Vineyard, staff continuously clean and sanitize, and all tables are arranged for social distancing, some with partitions as an additional safety precaution. All employees wear masks and wash their hands constantly. In addition, “Sanitation Stations” with hand sanitizer are located at venues throughout the property for guests’ use.
8. Explore the Property
At most wineries, there is plenty of open-air, beautiful, green space to walk and explore the property. Take advantage of this opportunity to take a walk through the vineyards, or a nearby walking path. A little bit of fresh air does wonders for the soul. The Gervasi 55-acre estate is beautifully landscaped with two lakes, two vineyards, walking paths and a seven-mile hike/bike trial. In the evening, enjoy the amazing sunset in a Tuscan village-like atmosphere. Plan to come early to walk the property—it will make your outing so much more special.
9. Plan to Come Back
There is so much to see and do at Gervasi Vineyard, a premier destination winery resort. For overnight and extended stays, The Villas and The Casa offer Tuscan inspired suites, high end amenities, fireplaces, spacious rooms and views of the alluring Gervasi estate. The Farmhouse, a charming home built in the 1830s, offers the best in traditional and modern décor and amenities, with plenty of room for friends and family to join you.
