Learning at Gervasi Vineyard
Held on the stunning grounds of Gervasi Vineyard and presented in partnership with the American Wine School, this exclusive retreat offers the rare opportunity to enjoy a luxury wine getaway and earn a WSET Level 1 Award in Wines certification.
And it is just in time for participants to use their newly earned expertise to help select wines for the family and work holiday dinners that are just around the corner.
The weekend offers the needed education to earn the well-recognized WSET Level 1 Certification in Wines. WSET is the Wine & Spirit Education Trust, and the American Wine School is a leading provider of internationally recognized wine qualifications.
Details About the Learning Experience
There are three hours of classes each morning with qualified educators from the American Wine School who will lead tastings and discussions.
Participants will learn the following:
- The main types and styles of wine, common grape varieties and their key characteristics.
- Wine storage and service best practices.
- The principles of food and wine pairing.
- How to describe wine using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting.
When not in class, participants will enjoy vineyard tours, gourmet meals, and luxurious overnight accommodations.
At the end of the weekend, participants can take the WSET Level 1 exam, a 30-question multiple-choice test. Those who pass will receive a WSET certificate and the credibility of their new certification.

- 7-9 pm – Cave Reception and Experience: Kick off the weekend in Gervasi’s underground wine cave with a beautiful and delicious antipasti display, four wine tastes and a tour of the barrel facility.
Saturday, November 8
- 7-8:30 am – Enjoy breakfast in room or at The Still House
- 8:30-9 am – Welcome and Orientation
- 9 am-12 pm – WSET Level 1 Classroom Instruction
- 12-2 pm – Lunch
- 2-2:45 pm – Guided Winery Tour and Meet the Winemaker
- 3 pm – BREAK: Optional South Vineyard Walking Tour or enjoy the Spa at your leisure
- 6:30-8:30 pm – Family-Style Dinner and Wine Pairings in The Bistro, hosted by Gervasi’s Lead Wine Ambassador
