The 2025 Ohio Wine Competition Awards

The Ohio Wine Competition is held every year and is one of the state’s most respected wine events. Judging is conducted by a panel of expert sommeliers, winemakers, and industry professionals.

Multiple Gervasi wines won awards this year. Three wines that have won before at this competition include Lasicto (Gold 2023), Serenata (Silver 2022), Ciao Bella (Silver 2022), Lucello (Silver 2022), and Piove (Gold 2022 and 2023).

This year, Gervasi wines took home a Double Gold for one wine and Gold for two of the wines. The winners are:

“This recognition is a proud moment for our entire team,” said David Smith, Head Winemaker. “Our Family Reserve wines—Passione, Lascito, and Unita—represent the pinnacle of Gervasi’s winemaking, and to see them honored at this level is incredibly rewarding.”

Just a Bit About Ohio Wines and Ohio Wine Month

There is no better time to stop by Gervasi and try these award-winning wines than during the month of June, Ohio Wines Month.

Since its inception in 2012, the Ohio Wine Month, is a time for Ohio to highlight an amazing and growing wine industry. Wine enthusiasts across Ohio are encouraged to explore and enjoy the state’s wineries and wine culture. They can do so through several ways, such as going to wine festivals, exploring Ohio’s wine trails, and visiting and supporting local wineries.

According to the Ohio Department of Development, in 2022 Ohio’s wine industry added $6.6 billion to the state’s economy, created over 40,000 jobs, and generated $1.9 million in wages.

There are currently five recognized regions for growing wine grapes – Lake Erie, Isle St. George, Grand River Valley, Ohio River Valley and Loramie Creek. The Ohio Wine Producers Association lists seven wine trails throughout the state as follows: Appalachian Wine Trail; Canal Country Wine Trail (Gervasi Vineyard is located in this trail); Capital City Wine Trail; Ohio River Valley Wine Trail; Lake Erie Shores & Islands Wine Trail; Vines & Wines Wine Trail; and V.I.N.O. Wine Trail.
