Celebrate the unequivocal success of The Cave and The Spa at Gervasi Vineyard Resort and Spa (GV)! Both venues are celebrating one-year anniversaries this spring; and what a year they both have had.
“The Cave and The Spa successfully opened their doors to Gervasi guests and are about to celebrate their first anniversary,” said Scott Swaldo, CEO/General Manager.
The Gervasi team designed, developed and opened both venues because of demand and input from GV’s many guests.
“We listened to our guests’ demands of looking for added experiences to their stay. The Cave has served both the wine enthusiast and novice looking to learn more about the wine-making process. The Spa has delivered tranquil spa experiences including The Couple’s Spa Suite which is unique and unlike other spa experiences in Northeast Ohio. The Cave and Spa staff are excited and look forward to continuing their service to our guests long into the future.”
The Cave’s Successful First Year
Opening its doors on March 21, 2023, The Cave has served over 60,000 ounces of wine this past year and over 20,000 guests. That comes out to be a lot of wine pours and tastings.

- The helped double GV’s Wine Club Membership.
- Offered 99 Cave Tasting Table experiences .
- 16,105 guests did a tasting flight at the Cave (broken down by flight below)
- 6,803 – Ticketed Tour tastings

- 1,502 – Vintner’s Select
- 1,140 – Bella Dolce
- 591 – Family Reserve
- 483 – Darling Duos
- 321 – Bella Bianco
- 243 – Classic Tours
- 5,867 take-home bottles purchased.
- 3,849 glasses of wine were enjoyed in The Cave
- 700 bottles of wine were purchased for on-site consumption.
- 1,001 Vasi Spreads were enjoyed while wine tasting.
- 6,803 antipasti cups were enjoyed on the Cave Tasting Tour.
“What an amazing year this has been!” said Eric Rabin, Cave Operations Manager. “From working on the initial concept of The Cave with Scott and Gretchen to exploring the experiences we could offer in the Cave. We then moved to choosing more of the details like the type of glassware we would use; the kind of food to offer; or what wines were featured in each flight.
Then came the process of hiring and training new staff and getting to work through role-plays and skits to practice guest interaction. I am proud of how my team learned to adapt as we experienced the reality of day-to-day opening and operations. The Wine and Spirits Ambassador team is so successful because all team members give 100% every day. We challenge each other to be better and constantly hold ourselves to the standards of Gervasi Vineyard. I am so thankful that I was trusted to lead one of the newest venues on campus and I am proud that my team and I can deliver top-notch results.”

- Polished 23,550 toes (2,355 Pedicures) and 9,220 fingers (922 Manicures).
- 2,000 guests left glowing after their facials.
- Eased soreness and muscle tension for 5,802 guests with massages.
- 1,266 guests (633 couples) enjoyed their time in the Couple’s Suite.
In addition to the thousands of guests who have visited and used the many services, The Spa has already earned high honors including placing in the Top 100 Spas of 2023. The Spa placed #55 overall on the Top 100 list, #2 in Ohio, and earned the Top 5 Spa in The Midwest. Even making the Top 100 Spas of 2023 in effect places The Spa at Gervasi in the top one percent North American spa and wellness destinations!
